Make sure you are compliant…
With all the Uber delivery people issues and the ongoing ‘who’s a contractor or not’ information being bandied around and argued out within the courts, it’s no wonder companies that do have to employ contractors don’t know if they are doing it the right or wrong way…
The last thing you want is for it to come back to haunt you later… ie who you thought were contractors are now employees as deemed by the ATO…
If they are deemed your employee, not a contractor, it would mean you would be up for statutory government fines and the 10% superannuation cost on top of what you have paid them. Plus you will need to factor in holiday entitlement, which may strain on your business, especially during these unprecedented times due to Covid-19.
You have to make sure either you have some form of watertight contract in place… whatever that is, or you are engaging the contractors in a way that they cannot be seen as your employees down the track…
With the increase in contingent workers (contractors), you need to ensure you fully understand the differences before engaging them…
As a contractor management company, we are here if you would like to discuss how to best engage them upfront, so you do not have any issues down the track and everyone is happy with the contractual arrangement… talk to us… 02 9407 8700 or email [email protected] to make your life easier…
