THE PENDRAGON STORY
The legend of King Arthur resonates as perhaps the greatest story in English literature. Also known as Arthur Pendragon, he is synonymous with the Knights of the Round Table, symbolically a place where knights came to discuss issues as equals; with the table having no head and, being round, there were no privileged positions. It was also a strict policy that knights could not bear arms at the table, signifying that all discussions would be conducted in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
It is said that the principal values of King Arthur were honesty, integrity, wisdom and courage. Pendragon was created with the same values to provide people management services to Australian organisations and individuals.
Our core values or moral code of conduct we expect from our team and our clients are;
Ethics, Honesty, Integrity, Wisdom, Courage, and Chivalry
Ethics
The branch of philosophy that deals with morality. Ethics is concerned with distinguishing between good and evil in the world, between right and wrong human actions, and between virtuous and non-virtuous characteristics of people.
Honesty
The definition of honesty is the quality of being truthful.
An example of honesty is telling the truth even after doing something wrong.
Integrity
Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It’s a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn’t waver. It literally means having “wholeness” of character, just as an integer is a “whole number” with no fractions.
Wisdom
Knowledge that is gained by having many experiences in life. The natural ability to understand things that most other people cannot understand knowledge of what is proper or reasonable.
Good sense or judgement.
The ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgements.
Courage
The power or quality of dealing with or facing danger, fear, pain.
The courage of one’s convictions, the confidence to act in accordance with one’s beliefs.
Take one’s courage in both hands, to nerve oneself to perform an action.
The ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous.
Chivalry
Very polite, honest, and kind behaviour, especially by men towards women, the system of behaviour followed by knights in the medieval period of history, that put a high value on honour, kindness, and courage.
Whilst Forrest Gump and the movie Titanic were hitting the headlines in the early 90’s, John Glover, founder of Pendragon was arriving from England. He, like many migrants to Australia, was faced with a maze of complexity in understanding the various rules and regulations surrounding migration, tax, employment law, Superannuation as well as when running a business, the complexities of running a Back Office which consists of GST (Goods & Services Tax) reporting, FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) and BAS (Business Activity Statement).
Having successfully negotiated his way through the maze, John decided to establish Pendragon, providing a service to businesses and contractors, removing the burden of compliance and simplified the process of employing and being employed.
The business has been in operation since 1998, Pendragon has and is still assisting many blue-chip Australian companies among its clientele along with various SME’s who are the engine room of the economy – clients who recognise the legacy of the Arthurian legend in Pendragon’s honesty and integrity of service.
John, calls Australia home and is determined to embody the values of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table throughout Pendragon team and its services.
