The cost to lodge the new TSS Visa is higher than the old 457 visa…
As of March 18th 2018, the Temporary Work (Skilled) Subclass 457 Visa was officially abolished and it’s replacement, the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Subclass 482 Visa came into effect. We have previously published a blog outlining some of the changes that the government introduced. The most recent change, however, is an increase in the cost of the Government Lodgement Fee for the TSS Visa.

In comparison, the Government Lodgement Fee for the Temporary Work (Skilled) Subclass 457 visa was AUD1080. This means that the cost has increased by $70 for applicants whose occupations have moved to the Short Term Stream, and those applicants have also lost their pathway to Permanent Residency. Applicants whose occupation is on the Medium to Long-Term Strategic Skills List will be subject to an increase of AUD1320 – the cost to lodge their visa has more than doubled.

This is unchanged from the Visa Nomination Fee for the Temporary Work (Skilled) Subclass 457 Visa, which also cost AUD330.
The next change that will be introduced to the TSS Visa is the Training Levy… which is yet another add on cost to employing internationally skilled people.
