Australia – IT Skills Shortage becoming Critical for SAP

By 13 April 2016No Comments

Skills ShortageSAP ANZ President and Managing Director, John Ruthven, has called for Australia to address what he describes as a critical skills shortage in IT.

As part of his predictions for 2016, Ruthven said in the face of emerging technologies, Government and industry must collaborate to improve skills in order to make Australia a stronger nation.

“Society is marching to the tune of technology, yet Australia’s IT skills shortage is becoming critical,” he explained.

As part of an effort to help mitigate future shortage, SAP created Young ICT explorers in order to help encourage school children to put their ICT skills to good use. This competition enables students to apply what they learn in their ICT/Digital Technologies classroom to develop a technology related project of their choice which is then submitted for the chance at regional and national awards/prizes.

Due to the current shortage, Australian businesses look to skilled overseas candidates to fill required roles in Australia and one way they can work in Australia is by obtaining a 457 Visa which requires sponsorship.

Fortunately enough, Pendragon may be able to assist in the short-term as we have an on-hire agreement with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) and can sponsor skilled overseas candidates with SAP experience on a 457 visa allowing them to work for any Australian company that requires the individuals  with SAP/IT skills. To see if you are eligible for this sponsorship, please complete our free assessment form and one of our Migration Agents will be in contact with you; https://www.pendragon.net.au/contact/
