Clint Eastwood, Cher and Bette Midler Raise Much Needed Funds…

By 31 August 2015No Comments

As you may be aware Pendragon are proud supporters of the Jeans for Genes Charity. On Saturday night the 22nd of August 2015 the Pendragon team attended the Annual Jeans for Genes Gala Dinner. The theme of the night was Las Vegas, and in true spirit, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.  The night was filled with excitement and wonder.  There was plenty of entertainment not only from the singing and dancing acts such as “Tom Jones”, “Beyonce” and “Michael Buble” but also from the hilariously talented Wendy Harmer who was the master of ceremonies for the evening.

As the night was intended to raise money, they were able to raise over $200,000 for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, from both the Silent and Live Auction of celebrity Jean artworks and miscellaneous prizes. There were several wonderful artworks that are one of a kind as they contain the ‘stars’ actual jeans signed by the celebrity themselves and then incorporated bette midler photosinto the paintings by highly talented artists, such as Bette Midler  by Yvonne Sherring-Howard or Cher by Nafisa.

Not to mention, Ray Hadley from radio station 2GB generously giving his time to entertain us as the auctioneer for the evening…

However, apart from the various celebrities that attended the evening, the real stars were the two young boys Clay and Levi. Levi unfortunately was diagnosed at 5 years of age with a brain tumor and along with their mother Rachel, shared their stories and brought the entire room to tears.

To end the night there was music, dancing and of course the amazing major raffle draw prize, a $25,000 trip for two to Vegas flying business class. Each person who bought a major raffle ticket received a free piece of jewellery donated by ‘Tusk’ so no one went home empty handed… perhaps not like the real Vegas.. Overall it was a wonderful night filled with fun and excitement and we will continue to support this wonderful cause.
