JOHN GLOVER: Hello and welcome to another Pendragon Straight Talk. The question this week I’ve been posed is will artificial intelligence help or hinder us. This is a huge discussion, but here is my couple of minutes worth and my thoughts.
First of all, artificial intelligence is already here, make no mistake, we’re already involved in it. Bots, live chats on websites, most of the big companies you are talking to on the web are artificial intelligence, they’re not a real person, you’re dealing already with a computer not a person.
The recruitment industry, they search for candidates through artificial intelligence. The legal industry, computers are now making the call if someone is guilty or not, not a human being. Self-driving cars. Car parks are already getting prepared for assisting with this, and the list goes on.
With Blockchain, smart contracts and artificial intelligence, soon we will be doing very little from the front end.
What we need to ask ourselves is this, what is the ultimate aim of the artificial intelligence software. What should it achieve and what are the decisions that ultimately lead to that outcome. One of the things we don’t want is to let artificial intelligence outsmart us, because that could be and will be dangerous.
However, I believe, by using artificial intelligence in the correct format, at the correct time in the business process, this will give us the chance to provide a more personal service to our clients as we can step into certain points of the artificial intelligence process and give a human touch, which eventually is what we all want.
Thanks for listening and I look forward to talking to you next week.
